Strange Howls in Independence, MO may be Sasquatch

Strange howls and calls have been heard by several witnesses in Independence, Missouri, which to date are unexplained. A woman who has had a number of UFO sightings at her home near the Missouri River near 291 Highway and 24 Highway in northeast Independence has heard some strange howls that she and her husband cannot identify. An investigator went to the site and heard the sounds as well. The residents are both veteran farmers and are familiar with the usual coyote howls, but say that this is nothing like that.

"The sounds are more like very loud screams coming from one area, then another one answers from a long way away. It's very spooky to say the least," said the witness.

The investigator said she cannot explain the sounds, either. "I've heard coyotes, wolves, elk, and moose, and this is nothing like any of them. I'm completely stumped."

Both the witness and the investigator listened to Sasquatch recordings on the internet and say that is the closest sound to what they are hearing.

A Sasquatch was sighted not far from this location at a stream in Sugar Creek, located west of 291 Highway in 2012 (see my other blog post about that incident for more information). Perhaps this is the same creature, or one of several. In interviewing several witnesses who have Sasquatch on their property I've found that it appears that they travel in groups or clans.

1969 UFO sighting at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant just reported to MUFON

Missouri MUFON received a report from a witness who saw a large UFO over Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in 1969.  The witness, who was told to keep quiet about the event, recently decided to come forward in order to let the public know that an unidentified object hovered and moved about the plant for two hours in the middle of the night and was witnessed by at least 13 people.

June 6, 2014 Independence, Missouri

Raymond Griggs, age 22 at the time, was living in Independence, Missouri and working as a civilian contractor at Lake City.  Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is a 3,935-acre U.L. government owned, contractor-operated facility located in eastern Independence near 7 Highway and 28 Highway. The plant manufactures ammunition for the military for the U.S. Army. In addition, Lake City performs small caliber ammunition stockpile reliability testing and has ammunition and weapon testing responsibilities as the NATO National and Regional Test Center.

Raymond worked the night shift from midnight to eight O’Clock A.M. in the printing shop. On a hot August night in 1969 the electricity for the entire plant and all buildings suddenly went out, so the crew of seven in his department went outside to cool down. That is when they noticed a UFO.

A bright chrome spherical object hovered just over a building four buildings away from the men’s position. The object then slowly moved over another building across the road and hovered, then continued to zig-zag back and forth across the road from building to building for approximately two hours. The seven men on the crew with Mr. Griggs talked amongst themselves while watching the UFO.  At the same time, several jeeps with MP’s were driving to and from the area very quickly, which is something the men had never witnessed before.

The unidentified object then left the area by shooting up into the sky at a 30 degree angle at an incredible speed. Raymond said that it was gone in ½ of a second, and that solidified the fact that the men were looking at a real UFO and not a military craft of any type. Just as the UFO exited, the electricity came back on.

The next morning, two men arrived at the office that no one had seen before. One was dressed in a gray suit and the other in black. One of the men said to everyone “Remember that you have all signed a security clearance and you did not see anything.” The men then turned and left. They did not introduce themselves or show any identification. The message was clear, and Raymond Griggs kept his mouth shut for 45 years. But after seeing an episode of Hangar 1 in which Missouri was featured as a UFO Hot Spot he decided to come forward with the story.

A friend told me this story today 1/16/2014

Major Ley Lines in Missouri

My friend met a woman who was having a garage sale last year and she told him this story.  He mentioned a Native American gathering to her and explained that they discuss UFOs, bigfoot, etc. and she told him about this incident. It happened when she was a kid and she is now in her late 50’s or early 60’s.

One evening her brother went outside after dark to take out the trash. The family heard a scream and ran outside to find her brother lying passed out on the ground. They revived him and asked what happened and he replied that he just saw a 7'

– 8’ tall bigfoot not 10 feet away from him and that they stared at each other in the eyes, then he passed out.

The next morning, the children went outside to see if they could find any evidence and they found several footprints in the damp ground. They took a plaster cast of one of them because the parents did not believe the story.  The witness is currently looking for the plaster cast, which may still be in the parent’s house.

The Rich Hill are is the site of other Bigfoot sightings from the 1970's and recently from 2011-12. In 2011 a hunter saw a bigfoot in the conservation area near Rich Hill.  It is also the general location of many UFO and paranormal events, and is located on the west side of the state right along a major ley line.  Ley lines have been associated with anomalous events worldwide.

If I get the chance to get this story first hand or to see the plaster cast I'll post the information in this blog.
